With data-gathering on Facebook and other social media in mind:

Memes:

* Your porn star name is the name of your first pet and the street you grew up on.
* Can you remember your first-grade teacher's name??
* Tag yourself with the first concert you ever went to!

Website security questions:
* What was the name of your first pet?
* What street did you grow up on?
* What was your first-grade teacher's name?
* What was the first concert you went to?

Okay. Apparently I am a dumb, and this is somehow malformed with regards to linewraps and such, according to greg k-h's bot.

Anyone with knowledge care to help me figure how to massage this to fit the submission guidelines (kernel.org/doc/html/v4.16/proc) better?

I wrapped the body and comment to 75, but the patch looks 'right' to me.

Just e-mailing Linux kernel maintainers to submit my first ever patch, as you do.

Someone else did 99% of the work, of course, and my patch is just a 'hey, my keyboard's affected too - here's the USB device ID', but still. If someone else has the same keyboard I do, and the same annoying problem, it might help at least one other person!

If there's one thing I love, it's the README file for the WindowMaker window manager

Every time I get up and stretch my legs, get a coffee or whatever, I invariably find our kitties cuddled up somewhere.

I can't not stop and cuddle them too. <3 Each of them gets snuggles and little kisses on their foreheads. Then I forget what I was doing in the first place.

Not complaining, though. :p This is *so* much better for my mental health than sitting in an office with phones ringing all day.

The Corporation behind and the Admins of Twitter can see your “Private Messages”

The Corporation behind and the Admins of Facebook can see your “Private Messages.”

The Admins of Mastodon can see your Direct Messages. They aren’t private.

With Mastodon, you can spin up your own instance and be your own Admin.

Ultimately, don’t use any of these tools for actual private messages. Use Signal, Matrix/Riot or another end to end encrypted messaging tool.

Of course, I realise I forgot to do a bit of editing considering I wrote this as a forum post first. :p *fix time*

Decided to try and articulate my thoughts on and the general privacy vs. data collection trend:
